artsbyj > At Base: This was taken at SXSW 2006. The gentleman playing this bass was a member of an Australian band and was under a tent stationed along the streets of Austin.
artsbyj > Herman is a gentleman I encountered at my apartment. He was riffling around the dumpster, looking for aluminum items that would be good to cash in for some money. Don&#8217;t let his efforts fool you &#8212; Herman is quite comfortable in his skin. Doesn&#8217;t mind driving around town, searching for the shiny stuff from dumpster to dumpster. &#8220;I paid for a Dodge Ram pickup with the money I got from this,&#8221; he said with a grin. This God-fearing man in his 60s stays away from drugs and alcohol and thanks the Lord, even while looking through the discarded memories and ruins of others. Herman pointed his index finger upward, looked up and thanked God for his health.
